" When you look to make any purchase, especially one as personal as spectacles, you look for 4 main things. Price, Availability, Customer Service and security. While online shopping often gives you the first two - and specs-by-post has the best prices and widest range out there - the last two are often overlooked in the race to save money. I dont know how, but I've just enjoyed some of the best customer service I've ever had - both with online companies and those with a high street presence. I was looking for something slightly different to that advertised and made a tentative enquiry. "No problem" came the instant reply, "I'll add it to the website for you". Within half an hour I was ordering something not previosuly advertised, and still at a great price. The last issue, that of security is one where we often feel that dealing with someone face to face will get us better results. I have had my expectations reset by dealing with specs-by-post. I had a small issue with an order that I was expecting to have to go through a long process to get fixed or my money back. Again, a quick email to specs-by-post had it sorted. I know my order, my money, my sanity is all in safe hands with specs-by-post and I will be using them again in the future. To all the staff there, and to Linsey in particular I give my heart felt thanks and round of applause for the way you deal with customers that put most high street shops, let alone internet shops to shame. Several years ago, I discovered that you don't have to pay hundreds of pounds to opticians to pay for their fancy shops. Once you've got a prescription, you can use it anywhere. Because I misplaced my glasses so often, the fact that I could buy prescription spectacles for £20 or so meant I could afford to have spare pairs in safe places. Several of the firms that started supplying over the internet have started national advertising, and put up their prices to cover the cost. But yesterday, I discovered a new one called specs-by-post.co.uk. Their prescription glasses start at £12 + post. I chose a frame and filled in the details of my prescription yesterday afternoon, and they arrived in the post this morning. After phoning them to enquire about whether I could get bigger than normal frames, I got a pair of custom-made rimless specs for £40 (try to equal that at Tesco who don't offer any fitting service, or on the High Street) after telling them a couple of measurements taken from my old specs and my bonce and got an 'ordinary' pair also for £12 complete with lenses. The ordinary pair turned out to have slightly incorrect lenses in them, so I returned them and asked for a second pair of rimless instead. Today they sent the ordinary ones back with the correct lenses and the second rimless ones are to follow tomorrow, with no charge for the ordinary ones...I've been very impressed with their friendly service, why pay a fortune locally?
